COMPASSIONÂ AND EXPERTISE
Dr. Carl Henningson is board certified and specializes in hematology and medical oncology. For over 15 years, he has been treating patients in the Jersey Shore community.
Dr. Henningson is passionate about helping his patients. He values their trust and demonstrates his care at every visit, taking time to understand each patient’s situation and to co-create an individual treatment plan based on the patient’s medical needs and personal wishes.
KNOWLEDGE
Dr. Henningson received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. At Yale, Dr. Henningson also earned a master’s degree in genetics.
He completed his residency in Philadelphia at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in internal medicine and conducted his fellowship training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in hematology and medical oncology.
He graduated salutatorian from Seton Hall with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and minor in physics.

Dr. Henningson knew from a young age he wanted to become a doctor and was a dedicated student and model citizen in pursuit of his dream of healing people. He graduated valedictorian from Raritan High School and earned his Eagle Scout badge, the highest scout honor, by painting house numbers on curbs in Hazlet for emergency response. His project is still visible on many curbs to this day.
SKILL
In addition to patient care, Dr. Henningson actively pursues academic and medical practice exchange. He is involved in the education of doctors, nurses and pharmacists in the East and Midwest on new treatments for breast, lung, colon, prostate, and other cancers.
In addition, Dr. Henningson regularly attends medical meetings and lectures to share best practices with world experts and learn about the latest research and treatments in hematology and oncology.
In 2011, Dr. Henningson spoke in Albany, NY, at the Senate Confirmation Hearing for Dr. Nirav Shah, the former Commissioner of Health of NY State.
PRACTICE
Dr. Henningson is part of Regional Cancer Care Associates (RCCA), one of the nation’s largest cancer physician networks. He holds office visits in both Toms River and Freehold.
Dr. Henningson has staff privileges at Jersey Shore University Medical Center -Hackensack Meridian Health, CentraState Medical Center, Hackensack Meridian Health Bayshore Medical Center, and Community Medical Center.
He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.
